Three days ago, I felt like things were finally going my way. But in a matter of just hours, my laptop malfunctioned and something happened to the hard drive, which means that I can’t access important files and photos. Yeah, stupidly enough, I didn’t back-up my data.
It’s not the first time it’s happened to me. Which, makes me even more of a fool for thinking I could use a technology driven piece of hardware without a care in the world. Pretty sure my files are safely intact within, but you never really know; do you though?
But at the same time, you can’t predict things before they happen.
As someone who lives in the moment, I don’t necessarily think about the what if’s in regards to life and technology. You become almost too aware of your surroundings, and that’s good to only an extent. Hopefully it all works out in the end. Nothing is ever promised.
Writing this from a new laptop, obviously. Can’t live with just a phone.
Has this changed my ways in terms of backing up data and storing it within cloud storage? Definitely. When I downloaded a file hours ago, instantly it went on my new external drive as I felt too nervous putting it directly on my computer. You have to live and you have to make a lot of mistakes before you learn, I suppose. Well, in my case anyway…
Not the kind of post I expected to write during the weekend, since I was so happy about making progress on my book and now it’s like I’m back at square one. This will not break me though.
FIVE GOALS FOR JULY AND ONWARDS:
- Finish writing material for my book.
- Publish my book before the end of 2017.
- Travel and take a lot of photographs.
- Focus on the present, not the past.
- Be happier and healthier.
What are your goals for the rest of 2017?
Nice positive post – if my laptop would crash and I hadn’t made a back-up (which happened once) I wouldn’t sound so positive, haha.
My remaining goals for 2017 include paying my parents back a huge part of what they loaned me, finish my colouring project, visit Finland and hop on a husky sledge, write 3 short stories (so far I am halfway through number 2), learn to meditate for 20 minutes, somehow grow more confidence, and make the most of it 🙂

Those are great goals! And thank you. I would love to write short stories but I think I’ll stick to poetry for now. My mother’s parents were from Finland, but they raised my mom and her siblings in Sweden, which is where I was born etc. Going back there is bittersweet because they’ve passed on but I love the country for definite. Good luck with your goals! I am sure you will achieve them 🙂
