Hello 2022: Happy New Year!

As the title says, 2022 is finally here.

Happy New Year to all of you, WordPressers!

I look forward to a year of consistent uploads, and I am sure you do too.

Made a promise to myself that 2022 would be the year that I focus on writing more, I also want to be more present on social media as well, and I am hoping to make some changes to DAYDREAM MADNESS in terms of layout, change things up a bit, so definitely stay tuned for that over the next few months or so.

Starting work on poetry book #3 is also going to be a priority this year, it has been almost 4 years since my last project was created, so this is long overdue, in my opinion.

I can honestly not believe it has been so long since Lay Your Hands Bare (2017) & A Cryptic Human Entity (2018) were made public for the first time.

With each collection, I want to challenge myself and learn to express my emotions and thoughts in a balanced way, especially the ones that are attached to trauma.

I have a long way to go until the healing process is anywhere near complete, or accomplished in some way, shall we say. I am very grateful for the wisdom and clarity that has been brought into my life in the last few years.

Getting older has taught me so much about myself, as well as other people and their intentions.

And I just wanted to say thank you for the almost 500 followers I’ve managed to get on here since 2015, it truly means the world.

Despite the inconsistencies and hiatuses, you’ve always given me a reason to stick with the blog, regardless of how much or little I might post.

Being an introvert, it can be tricky knowing how to step outside the box for once. It can be awkward a lot of the time, truthfully.

But writing is therapy, it is an outlet for those very difficult thoughts and feelings. I’m not planning to share everything about my life, but I do want to be more open and confident in myself.

Insecurities can get the best of you sometimes, I know that all too well.

So, be kind to yourself and others, take one day at a time and just know that life is a complex journey, but it’ll be okay. You will be okay, no matter how tough it might be right now.

Love,

Mila. Xo

Poem: paper-thin apologies

This is a poem I wrote tonight. I wasn’t planning to, neither did I think I was going to write one at all. But I did, and I wanted to post it on the blog. Not the best thing I’ve written, yet not the worst either. Enjoy.

Submerged with all these fears

They look through her like glass

Eyes stained with cruelty and spite

You find your way through the cracks

Of her broken mind

Like the river of tears

That fills her eyes

And runs down her face

I Passed My Course!

This post is going to be more upbeat and positive than the last few (or perhaps I should say ten?)

Yes, still got a lot of things on my mind currently which has been very challenging and awful for my mental health, but I’m still trying to get through life with gratitude and strength.

So, that being said: I passed my course!

Not entirely surprised, I did have a good feeling about taking the exam, so that was nice.

Excuse the lateness of my recent posts on the blog. A lot is on my mind, so bear with me.

Have a great evening, everyone.

Temporary Distractions

Nostalgia and apathy, contradictory mix of the mind’s emotional response, and lack thereof. Workouts and staying productive takes the edge off to some extent.

I don’t know what’s worse, suppression of this reality or accepting that these thoughts and feelings exist?

Both are equally hard to navigate. If only I could articulate them into words and make art of it all. I always find it easier to write about darker subjects, or so it used to be.

Might look into writing submissions and story competitions, get my creativity in shape, as silly as that may sound. I understand you have to go with the flow, but my impatience can make that very difficult.

On a lighter note, I just realized that tomorrow marks three years since I published my second poetry collection via Blurb, A Cryptic Human Entity.

I can’t believe it, honestly. Three whole years tomorrow.

Will post a link to it on the next post, to commemorate this beautiful, precious moment in time. You can also find it quite easily online.

I do regret the lack of promotion when it first was published, but again, there was a lot going on in life the first months of it being out for the world to see.

That being said, I’ll always be proud of my work, regardless of who buys it or what happens next. For me, just holding the book in my hands was incredible and emotional.

Writing has always been a part of my life, something I hold near and dear to my heart and soul. I’m not the best at it, but I’ve still got a lot of learning and growing to do. My story is still being written as we speak.

It has gotten me through a lot of difficult times, so has this blog of mine too. It’s not just self-expression or art in written form, it’s therapy, a sanctuary.

Thoughts: Improved Blog Schedule

A more consistent blogging schedule is what I am aiming for, in the long run.

I do find myself struggling at times, whether it’s with blog post ideas, diverse concepts and other various writing related issues. However, not all days are like this, inspiration does occur, although not as often as I would like it to.

Writing more can be a little tricky, if you’ve got creative blocks, or just a lack of inspiration in general.

Self-expression is such a wonderful outlet, it makes me feel better, writing stuff down helps declutter my mind, it keeps my thoughts balanced, for the most part.

Don’t be afraid to talk about your emotions, that’s all I’m saying.

Cherished Moments

The writing bug seems to show up late into the evening, but I don’t necessarily mind.

Had a surprisingly productive day, cleaning the house is so therapeutic, I have been in organization mode for the longest time. I suppose, decluttering keeps my mind from thinking too much.

Going to continue tomorrow, if motivation remains in tact.

Also, I have a good vision of my next book’s cover, so that’s very exciting to me. For some reason, vivid and blue is what my heart is going for right now. It could change with time, but who knows.

Have a wonderful evening, fellow blog writers and readers.

Retail Therapy: Analysis

Retail therapy can be fun, although your wallet might say otherwise.

I’ve definitely had my fair share of impulse buys, last-minute emergency purchases and those “why did I buy that?” moments in my life.

The older I get, the more conscious I become of my spending habits.

And it’s not because I’m frugal, or I always choose the cheaper option.
Sometimes, retail therapy can be slightly addicting, like most things in our daily lives if not in moderation.

To be honest, I used to be quite reckless with money, but over the years, I’ve found some balance with it all. Just making sure all the bills are up-to-date is enough to leave me content.

I often watch these couponing shows, and it’s so interesting how much you could save on the most random items in your household. And also, how much you could save on the things you like or prefer the most.

Budgeting is quite a fun activity for me, as I love to write lists and keep it all organized in my notebook. Ticking off bills is a relief, not everyone has that chance. Life a few years ago was quite different to how it is now, and I truly am grateful for all that I have, and I accept what I can not own, to some extent.

Materialistic items might seem great to own, but in the end, the things that truly matter, you’ll cherish more, sentimental pieces that reflect who you are and what you love.

There’s a lot of people who aren’t fortunate to have those things, a tough reality for many. If I’m able to help someone in need, I try to do so.

Gratitude is something that keeps me humble, and at peace.

Especially in these unpredictable times we’re living in now.
It makes you appreciate what you have, and the ones you love.

This was something I wanted to talk about today, I’m not entirely sure why, but it’s often a subject I think about, when I see adverts online and outside, when emails spam my inbox, asking me to buy new things and get nice deals in the process.

Since I’m currently on this health journey of mine this year, I made a promise not to buy new clothes, because there’s simply no need.

Well, not at the moment anyway.

I’m hoping to save more and spend less as the year progresses, and I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to do that, with my mind focused on more important matters.

This is become quite a lengthy post, so I think I’ll leave it at that for now.

I’ll be writing a daily post on the blog until further notice, and if you’ve made it this far, thank you. Have a blessed Friday, take care & stay safe.

Creative Sessions

Tonight, I’ll attempt to get started on my next writing project. In May, it’ll be three years since I independently released my second collection of poetry, A Cryptic Human Entity.

For the longest amount of time, I’ve wanted to begin this process, but a lot has occurred since the last collection and my writing was put on hold indefinitely.

I must admit, the passion to create was lost for a while. I had no particular interest anymore, and it took me a long time to feel like myself again. Writer’s block and personal stress did nothing to help the situation either.

During the first two lockdowns, I found myself prioritizing sleep a lot, right now it’s kind of the opposite because my sleep schedule is out of sync.

I suppose, this time around, it’s the time to focus on my written work.

There’s a lot of ideas and artistic concepts that are running wild in my mind right now and I’m really excited to see what comes out of this. I wish I could draw, if anything. For some reason, I miss painting too. Longing to do it again.

A few titles I have in mind, also. Which one I’ll go with, I have no idea, as of yet. I will trust my instinct on that one. I’ve always been very invested in poem titles and painting a picture.

If I get anywhere with it, I’ll most definitely add some thoughts to the blog tomorrow. Would be great to get used to talking about it all more, as I embark on this journey of expression, saying hello to a new era.

Until then, I’ll leave it at that. Take care, all of you.
